Our b2b social media summit took place on Tuesday and Wednesday. We thought it might be worth wrapping together the various commentary, news and opinion that came out of the show and putting it in one place.

Rohit Bhargava's Blog Post of Key Learnings

Rohit is a friend of ours, and whenever he comes along to our shows, he writes up a great blog post on what he feels are the key points arising. You can read the full piece here. The much-edited, reduced and weakened version is:

  1. Create a library of resources and internal success stories: get a strong pipeline of positive examples for internal and external engagement
  2. Get smarter about content creation: It helped Steelmaster to increase lead volume by 92%. Take it seriously
  3. Foster internal creators first: Your people are your best spokespeople. Your people are your best spokespeople. Your people are your best spokespeople.
  4. Let the doers try (and sometimes fail): Relax a bit - don't exercise a stifling level of control. Beware 'centres of excellence' becoming over-concerned with vetting social activity.
  5. Make collaboration the priority: It will help you for multiple business reasons - like innovation
  6. Listen to, and act on, customer suggestions: LEARN. If someone tells you something, try to do it - and show you're doing it.
  7. Build relationships before you need them: 60% of all b2b sales purchase decisions are made based on the 'pre-sales cycle' (ie before your lead even says they're interested
